Your Cycling Short Break in the Algarve starts in Faro, where you will spend the first night. Explore the capital of the Algarve and its main attractions, including the charming old town, the historic Lethes Theatre, the Carmo Church, and the typical Algarve cuisine, recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The second and third nights are spent in Tavira, one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve, famous for its 37 historic churches and its renowned octopus-based gastronomy.
The two cycling stages lead you along peaceful backroads, riding from the coastal towns where you stay overnight into the rural interior, crossing valleys and rolling hills. On the first stage, you pass through São Brás de Alportel, with the opportunity to visit the famous cork factory, the small village of Cachopo, and several other traditional villages. The second stage takes you to Vila Real de Santo António, known as the “Enlightenment City”, to Castro Marim, recognised for its medieval heritage, and to Alcoutim, beautifully located on the banks of the Guadiana River, along with many charming villages along the way.
