Cycling through 252 km on a 6 day journey with a MegaSport guide, surrounded by beautiful sceneries. Starting at the edge of Europe, Cape St Vincent in Sagres, the most south-western point of Continental Europe, with the amazing cliffs views; passing Lagos, an historic center of the Portuguese Age of Discoveries; passing Portimão and Albufeira fishing town; the sweet surroundings of Vilamoura; the wonders of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a 60 km lagoon system, passing through the Sapal area, where you are able to see a huge variety of birds and wildlife; the cultural town of Faro; visiting Tavira, crossing a Roman bridge over the Gilão River, the most beautiful and typical town of Algarve, and finishing at Vila Real Sto António, an interesting old town on the banks of the Guadiana River which forms the border between Spain and Portugal. Day 1 - Arrival in Faro
Transfer (optional) with Megasport from Faro airport to the hotel in Sagres, place where you will begin the journey. Covered by the Alentejano Southwest natural park and the Vicentina coast, the Saint Vicent Cape is the further western point of Europe.
Day 2 - From Cabo São Vicente to Lagos (49 km)
Cycling through the quiet roads and trails you will travel your way involved in magnificent cliff landscape environment.
Day 3 - From Lagos to Portimão (31 km)
Starting the day visiting the splendid city of Lagos, which was remarkable for the Portuguese Discoveries, follow the path to the magnificent city of Portimão, through admirable Ria de Alvor.
Day 4 - From Portimão to Albufeira (48 km)
The quiet roads and tracks will guide you through small villages and traditional cafes where you can taste delicacies of the region.
Day 5 - From Albufeira to Faro (48 km)
With a route characterized by quiet trails, scroll down this path with a magnificent natural surroundings and typical piscatorial customs.
Day 6 - From Faro to Tavira (42 km)
Cycling in a track mostly through the Ria Formosa Natural Park, let yourself be involved by the senses of this natural wonder of Portugal.
Day 7 - From Tavira to Vila Real de Santo António (34 or 68 km)
Pedaling along the coast the route offers exceptional views of the Atlantic Ocean and contact with a culture known for its fishing for Tuna Fish.
Day 8 - Return to Faro
Transfer (optional) with MegaSport Tavira to the airport for your return home or stay a few more extra nights in the unique region of the Algarve.
This great route runs along the Algarve coast line, allowing you to visit many of the coastal towns and cities in the Algarve and also trace various paths of nature.
It features mostly flat terrain with an average of one / two medium ascents per day. With an average of 40 km per day, easily crossed.
