In this Walking Holiday you will discover the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, the beauty of Faro, the traditional customs of the region, the art that persist in the countryside, ancient traces of human occupation, historical sites, and much more!
The Algarve is divided into three main regions: the South and the West Litoral facing the Atlantic, the Barrocal and the Serra that connects us to the Alentejo. Your Short Break starts in Albufeira, a city with old fishing tradition, where you’ll spend the first night. The second night is booked in Faro. Explore the capital of the Algarve and its attractions. The beautiful old town, the ancient Lethes theatre, the Carmo Church and the typical Algarve cuisine (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage) are a few highlights of the city. The third and fourth night is booked in Tavira, one of the prettiest cities of the Algarve. Tavira is known by its many historic churches (37!) and also by the typical Algarve cuisine, with octopus specialities.
We will start our Hiking in the south coast of the Algarve through the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, one of the seven nature wonders of Portugal, by its lagoon system and its Sapal area, where we are able to see a huge variety of birds and wildlife. Following to the countryside we find the fantastic mountains of Caldeirão, a walk that leads us to ancient times where life happens slowly, by the customs and traditional arts that last. We continue out to meet ancient traces of human occupation, Alcoutim, where Portugal is bordered by Spain through the emblematic river Guadiana.
